Jonathan Rice, M.A.

Admissions Advisor

Jonathan Rice is a higher education strategist with a passion for guiding students to opportunity. Jon is the former director of admission at the University of San Francisco, a selective Jesuit liberal arts institution in San Francisco, California. During his almost decade of service to the university, he served as an admission officer recruiting students nationally, sat as a member of the admission committee, and oversaw the admission process and policies for the university’s highly-selective nursing program.

He has reviewed thousands of college admission applications, having served as an application reader for the University of San Francisco, the Gates Scholarship, and the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship. Jon is a sought-after speaker on college admission and the future of higher education, having given hundreds of presentations at high schools, community colleges, and industry conferences.

Jon began his career in admission as an undergraduate at Pitzer College, where he was a tour guide and admission fellow. As a fellow, he conducted over 100 interviews and recruited students internationally in Beijing, China. Prior to his career in higher education, Jon supported communications and program management for a variety of nonprofit and for-profit organizations including the United Nations Foundation, Ipsos Public Affairs, and USA Today.

Jon is also the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to South Korea through the U.S. State Department, where he spent a year living and serving as a cultural ambassador.

Jon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies with an emphasis in Global Politics from Pitzer College, a Member of The Claremont Colleges, and a Master of Arts in Professional Communication with an emphasis in Strategic Communication from the University of San Francisco. Raised in the Washington, D.C. area and a graduate of the Bullis School, Jon currently resides in San Francisco and loves seeking out the best Thai food, riding Peloton, and keeping up with current events.
